The platform

Six connected modules. One verified farmer record.

Every module reads and writes to the same Farmer Digital Identity — so a credit decision, a traceability event and an advisory message are all working from the same ground truth.

Module 01

Farmer & Farm Digitization

The Farmer Digital Identity (FDI) Registry is the foundation of the platform — a single, verifiable record of who a farmer is, what land they farm, and what they grow.

  • Digital identity capture

Onboarding via USSD, field agent app or self-registration — linked to national ID where available, with biometric or photo verification.

  • Geotagged farm mapping

Plot boundaries, land tenure status and crop mix captured against satellite basemaps, down to sub-hectare precision.

  • Household & production history

Season-by-season yield, input use and income data accumulates into a longitudinal farmer profile that gets more valuable over time.

In the field: FarmMate

FarmMate's out-grower onboarding runs a 10-point eligibility protocol — land tenure, farming experience, irrigation access, training commitment — captured at intake instead of paper checklists. That's the exact workflow the FDI Registry is built to digitize.

In the field: FarmMate

FarmMate applies standardized Grade A/B/C specifications — weight, size, defect tolerance — for every crop at every collection point. Traceability is built to turn that kind of field-level grading into a digital, verifiable record from plot to sale.

Module 02

Traceability

Blockchain-backed QR codes follow produce from plot to point of sale, giving buyers, regulators and certifiers a verifiable chain of custody.

  • Pre-harvest tracking

Input use, protocol adherence and field activity logged against each plot from planting through to harvest.

  • Post-harvest chain of custody

Aggregation, grading, storage and transport events recorded at every handoff, with QR verification at each step.

  • Compliance reporting

EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Ecodesign for Sustainable Products (ESPR) and digital MRV (DMRV) reports generated directly from field data — no separate audit process required.

Module 03

Agri-Financing

Field and yield data from the FDI Registry feed directly into an AI credit engine — turning informal farming histories into bankable risk profiles.

  • AI credit engine

A 0–850 AI-driven credit score built from farm size, crop history, yield performance and repayment behavior — usable by any partnered lender.

  • Input BNPL & asset lease-to-own

Buy-now-pay-later financing for seed, fertilizer and agrochemicals, plus lease-to-own structures for equipment like solar irrigation pumps.

  • Insurance & micro-pensions

Area-yield index insurance (AYII) and micro-pension products underwritten against the same verified farmer record.

  • Automated repayment waterfall

Loan, premium and input-credit repayments settle automatically from offtake sales before farmer payout — cutting default risk at the source.

In the field: FarmMate

FarmMate bundles input credit and multi-peril crop insurance directly into its per-acre input packages — a standard tomato package totals GHS 14,664, including a GHS 2,341 credit facility charge and a GHS 1,222 insurance premium, repaid against harvest proceeds. Agri-Financing is built to score, price and settle exactly this kind of structure automatically.

In the field: FarmMate

FarmMate requires every out-grower to complete enhancement training on approved protocols and work under the direct guidance of field supervisors — consulting FarmMate before deviating from a recommended practice. Advisory Services is built to extend that same guidance digitally, at scale, over IVR and USSD.

Module 04

Advisory Services

Extension that reaches farmers where they already are — no smartphone or data plan required.

  • IVR & USSD delivery

Voice and text-based menus deliver advisory content on any feature phone, in local languages.

  • Package-of-practice guidance

Crop-specific agronomic guidance timed to the season — sowing, fertilization, pest management, harvest.

  • Weather & market signals

Localized weather alerts and real-time market prices, so farmers can time input purchases and sales decisions.

Module 05

Payments

Every transaction in the chain — input purchase, offtake sale, loan repayment, farmer payout — settles through the same digital rails.

  • Mobile money settlement

Direct integration with telco mobile money rails for instant, traceable disbursement to farmers and agents.

  • Digital input vouchers

QR-verified, anti-counterfeit vouchers redeemable at agro-dealer networks, tied to each farmer's BNPL limit.

  • SIM-based pay-to-operate

IoT-enabled equipment (e.g. solar irrigation pumps) unlocked through SIM-linked micro-payments, tied to smart-meter usage.

Why it matters

Out-grower programs typically bundle input credit, insurance premiums and loan interest into a single per-acre repayment amount, settled once the harvest is sold. Payments is built to automate that settlement end-to-end — no manual reconciliation required.

Infrastructure

Open API & data exchange

Every module is available through a single open API — real-time IoT telemetry, USSD/mobile money integration and a shared data exchange hub for every partner that plugs in.

Real-time IoT telemetry

Smart meters and field sensors (e.g. solar irrigation, weather stations) stream directly into the platform for usage-based billing and agronomic insight.

USSD & mobile money integration

Native integration with telco USSD gateways and mobile money rails means no app download is required for farmers to participate.

Partner data exchange

Lenders, off-takers, insurers, government agencies and DFIs connect through role-scoped APIs into the same underlying farmer and farm record.
